The creative arts are a very important part of the curriculum throughout the school.

Art:

Through weekly lessons we encourage the children to develop and express their own ideas through a range of structured activities, teaching the children how to become independent artists, confident in choosing their own materials and talking about their work.

Drama:

Pupils enjoy drama lessons at school where they are encouraged to adopt characters and to develop public speaking skills from an early age.

Pupils participate in productions and assemblies throughout the school year, which helps to build confidence and self-esteem.

Music:

The children have access to a wide range of percussion instruments, both tuned and un-tuned. They have the opportunity to listen to and discuss a wide range of music from around the world as well as making music themselves either individually or as part of a group. They will build on their experience in Reception of creating compositions and using ICT to make music.

We also encourage parents as early as possible to sign their child up to peripatetic lessons which are on offer throughout the school week. These can be found on the school’s Extra Curricular booking forms. Music is both an extremely creative outlet and an excellent discipline. The school has benefited from pupils gaining music scholarships to senior schools through early uptake.
