It has been one of the busiest fortnights that I’ve known and half term seems to have come around so quickly, but then when we’ve had our Education Director in looking doing our annual Regulatory Compliance check, our Schools Director in to work with me, our Senior Schools recommendations with Form 5 parents on Wednesday and Thursday night this week and there’s been so many exciting things going on with the children, it’s no wonder!
I had the pleasure of visiting both Form 2 Science Party and Reception’s Dinosaur Museum since my last blog, and meeting parents who were sharing their children’s learning. It was impressive to see in both classes the level of work that the children were producing, not to mention their amazing engagement with their parents about their learning; their explanations were clear about what they had learned and they were incredibly proud of their achievements!
The thing about these afternoons where we invite parents in to share work, they are put together well, but are not something outside of our normal curriculum. The teachers work hard to plan creative and engaging learning that inspires our children and the outcomes speak for themselves in these lovely sharing afternoons.
In addition, the whole school celebrated Safer Internet Day on Tuesday - they produced some excellent work on e-safety and we will be sharing that with you as soon as it’s put together, but look out for the invitation that is going out soon about our Parent/Pupil event around Our Caring School initiative in March.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Lauren Clark for all her hard work with Form 3C since September. Sadly, she is leaving us to go back to New York at the end of February. We wish her all the very best and welcome Miss Hayley Howson to take over from her.
Finally, I want to say a huge congratulations to our Form 6 pupils on their efforts in their exams. I know that a lot of offers have come out today and I am pleased to say that they have done incredibly well again. Still some offers to come out next week, but I hope that they can all relax now over half term ready for their next challenges.
I wish everyone a good rest over the break and see you all in a week!
