Focusing on the Environment is a key theme of our school development plan. This theme encompasses the global environment, the learning environment and the school environment. I am pleased to share that over the October half term, we refurbished four classrooms on our Muswell Avenue site. The classrooms were completely repainted, new storage was built, environmentally friendly LED lighting was installed, which also creates a better learning environment for children, and smart televisions are being piloted in two classrooms.
The smart televisions allow the learning to be more innovative because children can Chromecast (share) their work directly from the device they are using to the television when explaining their learning to the class or presenting their findings. Over the course of the year and into the next academic year, we will continue to refurbish all the classrooms at the Muswell Avenue site and develop the shared areas of the school.
The Friends of Norfolk House also have a central role in developing the school environment and have upgraded key areas of the school i.e. the lockers and climbing wall at Muswell Avenue and the front garden area and outdoor shelter at Princes Avenue. Parents supporting the FoNH events helps us to provide the children with an even better environment and we look forward to sharing how they will be helping to do this over the coming months.
