All the staff at Norfolk House would like to wish all our families a Happy New Year and welcome you back to the new school term.

As you will know this is an important time of year for many of our Form 6 pupils who are sitting exams and attending interviews at their intended future schools. As Form 6 pupils and parents will attest, the 11+ is an intense process. It highlights the need for strong pastoral care to sit alongside and support the rigorous academic curriculum in order to ensure the children are successful in their school career and throughout their time in education.

At Norfolk House, the focus on the individual is crucial to building confidence and self-esteem throughout their time with us. Our small class sizes enable teachers to foster strong relationships, so children are well known and the curriculum can be tailored to challenge them at the right level. This supports them in developing resilience and a growth mindset through taking risks in their learning and rising to challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Understanding the children’s individual needs, interests and talents is key to ensuring they take advantage of the wide range of opportunities on offer at Norfolk House; from being part of the School Council, running with the cross country team or playing music for the school ensemble. Opportunities like these help pupils to engage with the school’s Core Values in different contexts and encourage them to progress in the areas that interest them the most.

The balance of pastoral support and academic rigour throughout the children’s time at Norfolk House shapes their success at 11+ and helps them gain places at a wide range of London’s top schools.

We wish our Form 6 pupils every success and look forward to celebrating their achievements later in the term.
