Leaving Letter from Ms Habgood

Posted on: March 4th 2016

Dear Boys and Girls,

As you probably all know by now, I will be leaving the school as your Head Teacher when you break up for the summer holidays and excitingly, Mr Jowett will be your new Head from September. That’s really exciting for him as he loves the school so much and has been very impressed with how the children here learn, and how they behave.

Of course I am very sad to be saying goodbye to you all. Norfolk House will always be a very special place for me; I’ve taught many of you as well as being your Head for five years and when I show visitors around our school, they are always impressed by the kind of things we learn here and how chatty and confident you all are when they come into your classrooms, which is one of the things I’m most proud of. What you achieve in your lessons is nothing short of impressive. Of course that’s also down to your amazing and committed teachers who work hard to make your curriculum exciting and challenging, but you always rise to the challenge whatever you do!

I have many fond memories, from sports days to dressing up days and just some of the ‘every-day’ kind of days where I’ve been able to have conversations with you and get to know you all as individuals. I am proud to know all of your names and the character of each and everyone one of you. I will definitely miss my English lessons with Form 6, learning our fantastic poetry and Shakespeare, as well as our General Studies lessons, and my Tuesday afternoons in Reception – not to mention my assemblies, Tea with the Head and BRICKS lunches.

It has been a privilege to be part of the school for so long and it will seem strange not seeing you every day or coming to my office. Luckily, as part of my job, I will be working in all of our schools, which includes Norfolk House and Montessori House, so I’ll be able to come and see you all sometimes and see how you’re getting on. In the meantime, I want you to keep achieving the amazing things that you do and being the wonderful children that you are – you’re very special and talented and have made my job here a pleasure every day, so thank you to each and every unique one of you.

With fondness and best wishes,

Ms Habgood
