On the last day of this school year, I would like to say a huge well done and thank you to all the children, staff and parents who have worked together to make the very best of a difficult situation over the last few months. The strength of our community has helped us to successfully overcome the challenges of moving the school online and then reopening again in June, whilst maintaining a high standard of education for the children both at home and school.
Throughout the recent crisis many parents have asked me what they can do to help. My response is to tell people about our school. In the difficult times ahead as the economy takes further hits, small private schools like ours will be affected, so if you have been impressed, tell your friends and colleagues or spend a few minutes to leave a Google review.
Our community has managed to maintain high spirits even though all the special events that take place in the second semester had to be cancelled. The children who this affected most are our Form 6 pupils who end their Norfolk House career today. In spite of the lockdown, the way they have responded with positivity and resilience and have appreciated every small win has been nothing short of inspirational. I am incredibly sad that we could not give them the full send off they deserve, but also incredibly proud of how they have reflected our Core Values at the time it meant the most. Their next schools are very fortunate to be welcoming them in September and they know that they will always be welcome at Norfolk House.
As the academic year comes to a close we also say goodbye to children and families in other year groups who are leaving and on behalf of all the staff at Norfolk House we wish them all the very best for the future. We also say goodbye to Mrs. Dedgjonaj, one of our Form 1 Teaching Assistants, whose warmth and kindness has been appreciated by children and families in Pre Prep over the last 4 years.
Looking ahead to September, I want to assure you that the Senior Leadership Team and governance will be working over the coming weeks to respond to the latest government guidance and we will be in touch over the break regarding plans for the Autumn. For now, on behalf of the staff team at Norfolk House, I would like to wish you all a safe, happy summer break. We look forward to welcoming you back in September!
