One of the key reasons why I chose to work in London and, more specifically, Norfolk House is its ethnic diversity. Coming from an international school, I feel at home with the wonderfully broad demographic that makes up our school community.

We have so many ethnicities represented among our children, parents and staff that in essence we are a collection of minorities. For this reason it is very rare that children seem to notice each other's differences. Whilst this is wonderful to see, it is important that we develop the children’s awareness of their own and others’ cultural heritage and the diversity of our community.

Throughout the month of October we will be engaging in the Core Value of being open-minded by celebrating Black History Month. The Norfolk House definition of being open-minded that we created with the children is “We appreciate and seek to understand ideas, views and values from others. We are willing to make changes and recognise the benefits of compromise and collaboration.” Please follow our social media channels to see how your children are engaging with this important focus.
