Last night we held our annual Form 5 Senior School Evening. This event is one of the many ways we support families through the 11+ process at Norfolk House. The evening began with five school leaders from a broad range of selective senior schools presenting to the Form 5 parents for 15 minutes each, followed by a short Q&A session. Feedback from parents who attended was incredibly positive and the consensus was parents developed a much greater understanding of the different schools. Our parents asked some excellent questions which helped them gain further insight into the aims, provision and ethos of the schools. It was lovely to hear the heads of these prestigious, selective schools talk about how fantastic the children are who come from Norfolk House are and how well we prepare them for the next stage in their education.
Following the presentations, the Prep team; Mr. Ashton, Mrs. Osborne and I shared details about the process itself, the changes in the provision, what is expected of the children and how we support them as a school community. Again feedback from parents, who are new to the process and those that have been through it before with the school, was very positive. Especially regarding what we have implemented to ensure all the children get to the “right” school and how we have adapted to recent changes in the selection processes of some of the senior schools. If you were unable to make the evening or would like a copy of the information, the presentation is available on the school website on the parents’ page.
I would like to thank Barbara Elliot (Headmistress of Channing), Mark James (Principal of Highgate Junior School), Leon Roberts (Headmaster of Belmont School), James Fowler (Headmaster of Aldenham School) and Bill Irving (House Master at Haileybury) for taking the time out of their busy schedules to present to our parents and their continuing efforts to strengthen their relationship with Norfolk House. Also, thank you to Mr. Ashton and Mrs. Osborne for giving up their time to prepare and present such useful information and for being available to answer individual questions at the end. Finally, thank you to Mrs. Mardell and Ms. Joannides for organising the speakers, venue and refreshments. It really was a team effort!
