Mr Jowett’s Blog: Partnership with Parents

Posted on: March 8th 2019

Working together with parents to help our children succeed in all areas of life at school is something we value at Norfolk House. The last two weeks are a perfect example of this as you will see from reading our newsletter. Pupils in Form 6 have formed their companies for Young Enterprise and are preparing to pitch their concepts in the Dragons Den, where experienced business people from our parent body will help me in deciding whether we should invest. Leonard’s mum, Paola, welcomed pupils to the Grant Museum of Zoology and ran a workshop for them, whilst in Form 1, parents gave their time and brought in food to celebrate what the children have been learning in RE.

During World Book Day yesterday, the quality and effort in the costumes from the children was excellent and they thoroughly enjoyed showing these off and appreciating each others. As Mr. Charman mentioned, it has been a really busy couple of weeks in sport; culminating in today’s cross country event that we hosted at Aldenham. The parent support was fantastic, from supporting the competitors and providing a wonderful spread of food, to helping organise and score during the races.

Of course, I couldn’t speak about parent partnership without mentioning the excellent STEAM parent-pupil event last Thursday, which was incredibly well attended by families from Nursery through to Form 6 and supported by the Friends of Norfolk House parent group.

Working together with parents we can achieve more and provide greater opportunities for pupils to engage with activities that bring learning to life, develop our Core Values and create awe and wonder.

Thank you to all our parents who give so generously of their time and expertise to help our children succeed in all facets of school life.
