Dear Children,
As you know by now, I am leaving soon to move back to America. I have chosen to write my final blog post to all of you as it has been my absolute honour and privilege to have been able to teach and serve as Deputy Head to all of you (and many of your brothers and sisters before you too!) As our oldest pupils will know, I was your Reception teacher on your first day of school. In recent years I have taught many of you throughout our school, from my Form 5 science lessons to music lessons for Junior Prep, to teaching all our little ones at our Princes Avenue site. I am proud to have taught so many of you and to have worked closely with your teachers to make sure our school provides you with a wonderful experience.
Each day as I come to school, I look forward to seeing you skipping down the pavement and hearing you cheerfully say, "Good Morning, Ms. Burke!”. Even those of you who are shy or sad are soon confident when coming to school. When I visit you during the course of my day and look in on your learning, I am astounded by how industrious, independent and thoughtful you are. With the help of your wonderful teachers I see you growing and developing all the time. When I show visitors around our school, they often remark on your learning and how happy you are and what wonderful, creative activities you are engaging in. I wholeheartedly agree.
I am proud to have known all of you and to have had the chance to work at our wonderful school for so long. While I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, I know I will miss seeing you and your teachers each day. I hope that you will continue to make the most of your experience at our school, enjoying all the opportunities it has to offer. Each of you are very special and talented in your own ways and you have made my job a pleasure each day. Thank you for making my years at our school such happy ones.
