Ms Habgood's Blog

I just couldn’t resist the urge to do a quick end of term blog, despite saying my end of term letter would replace it. Far too much exciting stuff has gone on in the past few weeks and the children’s achievements are something to absolutely sing from the rooftops! From our Creative Curriculum event, which showed off our talented street dancers and musicians, as well as our poised yogists, to the various performances of our children from Nursery to Form 6 at a range of venues (even The Barbican – which I have to say I am in awe of!) displaying a range of singing and acting talents; it truly is a privilege to be able to stand up proudly and say that these are the children at our school.

The confidence that each and every child shows in performing may partly come from a sense of not quite knowing the fear of self consciousness yet (oh to be young again!), but the majority of it comes from the scaffolding, support and opportunities that they have both at school and at home to become as self assured and secure as they are, and to feel that they can achieve whatever they set out to achieve; to be honest, I am sure that a sense of nervousness doesn’t cross most of their minds when stepping out on stage! But the benefits and rewards it brings are as equally important as their academic qualities; to be able to stand up in public and hold the audience in the palm of your hand – well, I’m sure we would all love that.

It’s been a pleasure to watch them all accomplish these things and it has put me, without a doubt, into the Christmas spirit and, as tired as we all are, we can look back and definitely know that this term has been another successful one.

All that remains for me to say is that I wish all our pupils and families all the very best for Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all back in a chilly January 2015!
