We've had a wonderfully positive start to the school year at Norfolk House and it is brilliant to see the children back at school and enjoying life. At the start of term a new cohort of reception children started their formal schooling and yet again impressed all the staff at how quickly they settled. Over the last two weeks we have also been welcoming our new nursery children to Norfolk House, with the transition being guided by our fantastic nursery staff team who are joined this year by Miss Gunaydin, Miss Currie and Miss De Wild.
Throughout the rest of the school we also welcome a number of new children: Alex in Form 1, Tabitha, Mia, Dhilan, Rosie and Carla in Form 3, Leonardo and Benjamin in Form 4 and Aaron in Form 5. We also welcome two new teaching assistants, Mrs. Jackson in Reception and Mrs. Shah in Junior Prep.
Walking around school and seeing the children so engaged in their learning feels refreshingly normal. Over the last two weeks the children have completed a number of assessments to help the teachers plan in the right level of challenge and it is a clear indicator that many children made excellent progress during the online learning last term. The skills that we have all developed over the summer term will be put to good use as we launch Google Classroom for homework this year, innovate new ways to share our learning and find creative ways to keep the Norfolk House community connected.
Finally, I want to say a special thank you to our staff who have been, and continue to be, stoic throughout the recent challenges we have faced. Their focus on providing the best for our children is unwavering and I am incredibly proud of every one.
