With only three weeks until the end of this academic year many of us are already looking ahead to next term; however, for Form 6 their Norfolk House careers are coming to an end. At this time of year, post 11+ exams, Form 6 children normally have a wide range of trips, events and experiences that make wonderful memories of their final months at Norfolk House. Unfortunately many of these have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Whilst this is a real shame, what has been uplifting is the children’s response to this and how they have remained so resilient and upbeat throughout this crisis.
I have been so impressed by the children during the Young Enterprise project, where they had to present their business plans to a panel in an online Dragon’s Den and, due to the Summer Fayre being cancelled, learnt to market their goods through an online shop - a first for Young Enterprise at Norfolk House! (If you would like to support the children’s companies and buy any of their products please visit their shops at this link: https://fonh.square.site)
The Senior Prep Production of Hercules is going online this year and the children and teachers have worked hard to adapt the play to suit video and allow for social distancing. The children remain enthusiastic and have embraced the challenge of creating a production under the current restrictions.
The last day of the school year is normally Awards Day, a rite of passage for Form 6. This year we will not be able to hold our ceremony as we normally would. In spite of this, the children’s attitude has been brilliant and they are looking forward to a different style of celebration that they will share with their families at a later date via video.
Every year, I am always so proud of our Form 6 children and who they become towards the end of their time at Norfolk House. During incredibly challenging times like these is when it really counts to live these core values and for this reason the Form 6 children have made all of us incredibly proud.
