It's good to be back

Posted on: March 12th 2021

What a fabulous week it has been! First thing on Monday morning spontaneous cheers rang out from different classes as the children saw their teachers and friends for the first time in months. Smiles and laughter filled the corridors and playground and made Norfolk House feel normal again. The teachers have done a brilliant job of helping the children settle back into school and this is where the strengths of our school become very visible.

I often ask children what makes Norfolk House special and a common response is that they have kind teachers, fun lessons and everybody knows them. The level of individual care that the children get from their teachers is vital in helping them feel happy and do their best and the combination of excellent teachers and small class sizes enables this to happen.

Whilst our online learning provision received a very positive response from parents, we know that there is much more to school than daily lessons. The children have missed out on a huge range of events and activities over the last 12 months that are a normal part of our school year. During our staff meeting this week, the teachers looked at their plan for the rest of the year with the objective of finding creative ways to give children the special experiences so they have a year to remember for positive reasons. We look forward to sharing these with you as plans are finalised.

A picture speaks a thousand words, so I thought the best way to show how wonderful it is to have the children back is to share some pictures from this week. Take a look here.
