An Interview with one of our young musicians

Posted on: November 18th 2011

Sadie Ward is a talented musician studying several musical instruments including the cello and piano; she also studies singing and music theory. Sadie was very happy to answer a couple of  Mrs. Grammeniati's questions earlier this week.

Q. Sadie, how old were you when you started your music training?

A. I started learning the cello when I was in Reception.

Q. What made you choose this instrument?

A. I was fascinated by the sound and the shape of the cello and as my three siblings play the violin we can now form our family quartet.

Q. Who is your favourite composer?

A. I enjoy playing music by Antonio Vivaldi. My favourite song is "Who will buy" from the musical "Oliver".

Q. Sadie, I want to congratulate you for your numerous successes in your music exams. You are currently working on your Grade 6 cello pieces, Grade 3 music theory and very shortly you will be attending your Grade 3 singing exam. Can you give us any exam tips?

A. The most important thing is to stay calm and positive and do your best.

Q. Do you enjoy playing at school concerts?

A. Yes I do. It’s great when you perform to an audience and there are people clapping and smiling at you. Everybody has a great time.

Thank you, Sadie.
