On Wednesday 16th March, Form 4 went on a spectacular trip to Hampton Court Palace.
When we got there we were split into groups. We went to see the magnificent Great Hall with beautiful tapestries and colourful stained glass windows. After Henry beheaded Anne Bolyn, he painted over her family symbol of a falcon from white to black. You can still see the letters H and A entwined together on the wooden walls that Henry forgot to get rid of. Next, we went to the humongous kitchens and saw the blazing red, orange and yellow fire. Some groups went in the lovely, green gardens and went in a carriage or the maze. A little later, we went to the Chapel Royal and saw a copy of the jewel-studded crown belonging to Henry VIII. In the Chapel Royal we also saw the most marvellous ceiling in the world. It was where his third wife, Jane Seymore, had her funeral and their baby, Prince Edward, was baptised.
All the Form 4s really enjoyed this fun, educational trip to Hampton Court Palace and would love to go back.
