Form 6 Treehouse Project Develops Understanding

Posted on: June 20th 2014

This term, the Form 6 children have enjoyed taking part in a project with Treehouse, a school which caters for children between 4 to 18 years who have Autism. The Norfolk House pupils play a range of sports with the children from Treehouse. There are many strands within the Autistic spectrum and they are all catered for at Treehouse.

This project helps pupils to develop an understanding of community and of the world around them, forming an important part of the citizenship aspect of the PSHE curriculum. The project develops the emotional side of a child's personality, understanding of similarities and differences and therefore fosters empathy, sympathy and support for others within the local community.
