Form of the Week: Form 5 Prepare Meals at Muswell Hill Baptist Church Soup Kitchen

Posted on: May 18th 2012

As part of Form 5’s involvement in a community project, they have been visiting the Muswell Hill Baptist Church Soup Kitchen once a week to work with John Grant preparing meals for that evening.

Working in teams at stations, they have learned a variety of cooking skills.  The teams either peel and chop, prepare the dining room and butter the bread or make soups, stews and other dishes in the kitchen.

Form 5 have learned about the people who visit the soup kitchen and their reasons for attending.  It has been great to see many of Norfolk House’s Harvest contributions in their extremely well stocked larder!

This project reflected the Get Set for the Olympics work that the children have been carrying out recently, promoting the Olympic and Paralympic Values of Friendship, Determination, Equality and Respect.

Recently, the children worked in groups to present their experiences to the rest of KS2.

Please watch Form 5 interviewing John Grant, who runs the soup kitchen, below.
