On Tuesday 9th October, Norfolk House held its annual Harvest Festival at St. Andrew’s Church. There were some lovely presentations and songs from the children as well as a thought-provoking talk from Fr. Tony Pybus.
At Norfolk House, we place a great amount of importance on developing the children’s broader awareness of community and world issues. Harvest Festival provides us with an opportunity to broach the topic of food origins, as well as the sensitive topic of food shortage in our own and other countries. The children’s presentations reflected a growing understanding of these and other important issues.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and children who all worked hard on planning and learning their presentations this year. It is not easy to get a performance together this early in the school year, but each year group contributed thoughtfully and with enthusiasm.
I would also like to thank St. Andrew’s Church, and Fr. Pybus in particular who provides great support for our school. Finally, thank you to our parents for attending our presentation and providing food contributions which will be donated to the soup kitchen at the Baptist Church on Dukes Avenue.
