On Friday 7th March, the time had finally come to travel to the ISA. Gatehouse were organising the tournament and we knew several teams there, such as Maple Walk.
We were split into two pools. Our matches were one after the other so we had no breaks in between. It was exhausting! Each match was 8 minutes long and we played 6 matches in the knockout stages, winning one and drawing one, giving us a total of 4 points. Unfortunately we didn’t get through to the semi finals but we didn’t give up. The overall winners were Howe Green, winning for the fourth time in a row! Our best match was when we only lost to Howe Green 1-0. We were really proud with our efforts, and the match for 11th and 12th place made the day even better when we won 2-0.
Another special event was happening on the day- Miss Williamson’s birthday. In the morning, Poppy smuggled a cake onto the minibus and we all brought something along. After all the matches, we surprised Miss Williamson when she walked into the dressing room, by spraying her with silly string and firing party poppers (resulting in us having to pick it all back up)! We then enjoyed the cake and the treats. Just for good measure, we sang Happy Birthday loudly when all the other schools were there, all of them joining in. Miss Williamson was really embarrassed!
Thank you Miss Williamson for coaching and umpiring us and thanks Mr Ashton for driving us and supporting us with your running commentary. Also thank you to the parents that came along with us. We really enjoyed the day!
