The Year 2s have had a great start to the term on the Muswell Avenue site. They have already been so busy completing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) challenges, finding the value of different numbers and beginning to write their fantasy stories. In the playground they have thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck in with the Year 3s: clambering up the climbing wall, playing hockey, football and basketball. This week they went swimming, which they were extremely excited about and absolutely loved, and they have also started all of their clubs: Tag Rugby, Glee Club, Jewellery Club, Chess and Cooking Club to a name but a few and it's only the first week!
Well done, Year 2 on a brilliant start to the year, you definitely deserve your weekend!
Form 3 have also had a great start to the new year.
The children spent the first week completing tasks to go into our time capsule which they will evaluate at the end of the year. In the time capsule, the children put a letter to their future selves explaining how they were feeling and the targets they have set themselves for the year. They drew around their hands and feet and measured their height so they can see if they have grown!
Form 3 have completed a number of team building challenges including a tower build, where they were only allowed to use tape and 12 straws. The cup challenge developed a lot of excitement as they were only able to control the cup with an elastic band and four strings. What a lot of discussion was had!
We want to say a warm hello to Daniel and Mikail who have come into Form 3. They have settled in quickly and are lovely members of the team.
This year, we look forward to developing the skills involved in active listening, questioning and a growth mindset. We will be encouraging the children to practise these skills at home as well as at school.
