Teaching staff from Norfolk House started the new academic year with shared training workshops, with other UK schools within the Bellevue Education group, on the topic of ‘Learning for the 21st Century’.
Led by Nigel Battey, who has over 30 years’ experience in education, both as a Headteacher and as a Director of Services, the sessions explored the most effective teaching strategies and tools to fully involve children in their own learning. Focus was on the need to develop pupils who are well equipped for future challenges, able to work together and adapt to change, and who are instilled with the desire to ask their own questions.
The workshops allowed staff to collaborate with colleagues within the Bellevue group and to share best practice, and ideas developed at the sessions are already being applied in the classrooms at Norfolk House, to benefit pupils this term.
Teaching staff at Norfolk House said, “It has been an inspirational day and has reminded us all of the real reasons we are teachers. The sessions have really helped to motivate us on our child-centred approach.”
