National Poetry Day Competition Winners

Posted on: November 6th 2015

To celebrate National Poetry Day on 8th October, we asked children to submit poems on the theme of LIGHT (which was the theme for this year’s National Poetry Award). We were inundated with fabulous poems from Form 1 - Form 6 pupils and had a proper judging of the contest by Mr Smith, Mrs Cannon and Ms Habgood. We had a tough time judging but chose the most original poems from those submitted. We chose three from each year group and then from those chose one overall winner for each Prep Department. The quality was so high we decided to award a prize for all of those shortlisted, giving us 18 winners in all, including three overall Prep winners:
PrePrep Winner:  ‘Light’ by Kyran Fevzi
Junior Prep Winner: ‘The Eclipse’ by Bobby Kotwinski
Senior Prep Winner: ‘Spring’ - by William Krohn

Prizes will be awarded in special poetry assemblies throughout next week, but the winners were announced today.
Thank you to all the children who submitted a poem; they will be awarded a small prize for their entry
