As our Nursery pupils settle into the new term, the children have been reflecting on some of the activities that they enjoyed in the Spring.
For the school’s parent STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) event, the children learnt about different biomes (habitats) and made detailed papier-mâché models of differing environments. They learnt about some simple features of arctic tundra, deserts and forests.
All children in the Nursery are encouraged to communicate and collaborate through their artwork and have enjoyed creating some fantastic collages and maps.
The children also enjoyed dressing up as book characters and reading their favourite stories for World Book Day. The children’s Form 3 buddies visited Nursery the day before and shared their favourite stories. It was a really special moment to see how the older children took such great care of their younger counterparts.
The children who stay for our Nursery afternoon sessions have gained a lot of knowledge about different cooking skills during our cooking sessions on a Friday and have enjoyed making some amazing recipes.
Nursery have also been talking about the change in seasons. The children looked at chicks hatching from eggs and some of them have even listened to the amazing song of the Lyrebird which can copy all sorts of sounds. During their Forest School sessions, Nursery have been making giant bird nests to sit in.
We look forward to a wonderful Summer term in the Nursery.
