Reception class have been busy learning about our senses and those of the animals around us. We started by learning about which parts of our tongues are most sensitive to specific flavours. The children tasted a variety of sweet, sour, salty and bitter foods, pointing out similarities and differences during discussion.
Recently, we have been using non-fiction books to work out which parts of our bodies are most responsive to touch and how our body reacts when we’re cold or afraid. The children made amazing ‘touch cubes’ for their homework task using a wide variety of materials.
Finally, the children have had the opportunity to be authors by sharing their knowledge and information they have learned by creating their first Senses book. Look out for these when you come to Open Thursday next half term!
