Reception Form of the Week

Posted on: October 2nd 2014

The Reception children have settled well into what school life has had to offer so far. It’s early days, but they have taken part in lots of school related firsts; assemblies, circle time sessions, ice-skating and visits to the woods, to name but a few.  It has been wonderful to see so many of the children take everything in their stride!
Our current topic is helping the children to establish strong friendships through activities such as, interviewing each other about their likes and dislikes as well as engaging in conversations about the similarities and differences of their families.  The children are using the skills they learn from these lessons to engage other children in discussions whilst playing together in the afternoons.
The children are excited about beginning to speak in French and have been confidently saying Bonjour to Lulu, one of our French puppets. They have also learnt new action rhymes during their Music lessons and some children showed their teachers how easy it is to play the ukulele! We also seem to have some budding artists - some of the children’s artwork so far has been pretty impressive!
It was fabulous to see so many parents at our first two Open Thursday afternoons.  The children were very excited to show what they have been making and confidently talked to family members about what they have been learning about.
The Reception team are looking forward to a fantastic term full of fun and learning.  Well done on such a brilliant start to the year, boys and girls!
