Reception have been learning all about the story ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’.
The story is set in the woods, so during our Forest School session, we decided to go on our own hunt for the ‘Big Bad Mouse’.
Extending learning beyond the classroom in this way, helps to provide meaningful and stimulating experiences for the children and the opportunity to apply and reflect on their own learning.
We put on our Gruffalo masks and off we went into the woods.
First we found a snake...
“Snake! You’re not the Big Bad Mouse”
Then we found the owl...
“Owl! You’re not the Big Bad Mouse”
Next we found the fox...
“Fox! You are not the Big Bad Mouse”
Then, hiding in a tree we found the Big Bad Mouse!
“Oh no! The Big Bad Mouse”
In the end, we ran off home to bed!
