Reception have been very busy at Forest School this term, observing the seasons as the leaves change colour and the weather becomes colder.
The children have been learning the story ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ and went on a hunt around the woods to find the ‘Big Bad Mouse’. Reception loved pretending to be the Gruffalo’s child and were confident to act out key parts of the story. They were great communicators, discussing with each other where they should look next.
The children created a giant ‘Art Attack’ in the shape of a Gruffalo, using natural materials found around the woods, and made Gruffalo Pie in the mud kitchen.
Reception also made crowns and bookmarks by creating patterns with Autumn leaves and created instruments using sticks collected from the woods and weaving around ribbons and bells. The children loved using these to practise their Christmas songs!
