End of Term Sports Report

Since our last Sports Report we have had a visit from the ‘Beast from the East’. Unfortunately, the Beast caused the cancellations of our Cross Country meets at Belmont and Lyndhurst as well as two Netball games and weekend tournaments at Belmont and Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School.

However, we still managed to play Rhodes Avenue at Year 4 and 5 Football and UCS in Year 3 and 4. All the games were very close, with the Year 4s in particular showing great skill in their games.

Our last game against UCS was an epic encounter. The Year 4s went 9 - 5 up in the first half, before UCS rallied in the second half to level the game. The last few minutes were very tight with UCS full of confidence and in the ascendancy, our boys had to dig deep and display some real resilience to secure the draw.

Cross Country

Last Friday was our last Cross Country event of the year and proved to be a real test for the boys. With over 100 boys in the race and a very muddy and wet route, the day was always going to be a real challenge.

After the first hill had thinned out the group, the boys were well placed. However, then the mud struck! Harris lost a shoe and fell over a couple of times before he finished looking like he’d had a mud bath! The boys displayed great resilience in tough conditions, with Tommy coming in the top ten.

Well done, everyone.

ISA Netball Tournament

Report by Ava R

We had a brilliant ISA Netball Tournament on Friday 9th March where we played five arduous matches. We all played our positions extremely well with Gracie as centre, Leila as wing defence, Iris and Georgina as wing attack, Charlotte as Goal defence (she was also our player of the match), Priya as goal defence, myself (Ava) as goal attack and Caitlin as goal shooter. Also, Imogen who did extremely well in any position she was put in.

We improved so much on our spacing compared to the start of the year where we huddled up like sheep around the ball. However, now we are no longer hanging around the ball but actually spacing out and getting the ball much more often than before. Our passing is outstanding now as we are doing straighter, quicker passes, unlike the loopy ones we did at the beginning of the term. Our first game was very unfortunate as when the opposing team scored their winning goal, the buzzer indicating the end of the game sounded and we ended up losing. However, that was just a warm up for us and the other games we played, we did extremely well in. We won a few brilliant matches.

Unfortunately we lost against Gatehouse who we haven’t beaten yet, but are slowly getting closer. All in all we had an exceptional day and it was a great last ISA Tournament for us Year 6s.
