We have already enjoyed a large number of fixtures this term, despite some inclement weather. The Year 5 and 6 boys and girls have both played four matches, as well as the ISA North London Football and Netball tournaments. The Year 3 and 4 boys have also played two sets of games, whilst the girls have had two matches cancelled due to poor weather. Unfortunately, the weather also caused us to postpone the inter-house cross country races, which are a highlight of term two. We hope to rearrange this event in due course.
Our pupils have shown huge development in the past few weeks and in some ways, the ISA Football and Netball tournaments have come too early in the term for us. We entered two teams into the boys event (a Year 6 and a Year 5 team) and the teams really improved over the day. Both teams showed great positivity, playing a very attacking style of football.
The Year 6 team narrowly missed out on the knockout stages and both teams should be really proud of their performances.
The girls should also be proud of their performances at the ISA Netball, last week. The team has had a lot of disruption in the past few weeks with various girls out for school interviews and I was worried that they wouldn’t gel as a team. However I was proved wrong as they stormed to a 6-0 win in their first game and looked really fluid in their play. They narrowly lost out on the playoffs after losing a couple of really close games by one score.
I usually like to end my Sports round ups by mentioning pupils who have represented the school, but this half term all the boys in Years 3 to 6 and all the girls in Years 5 and 6 have represented the school! The Year 3 and 4 girls would also have played two games, if it wasn’t for the poor weather.
My team of the term so far has to be the Year 3 and 4 E team who have played Football this term with huge amounts of joy and great team spirit. Their attitude to sport has been brilliant.
