In Form 1, we have been learning to use adjectives to describe different characters in stories. The story that we read last week is ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ by Judith Kerr. We did a lot of activities around the story and it became one of our favourites. We think Judith is so clever as she was able to both write and illustrate the book.
After reading the story, we used the Think, Pair, Share strategy to come up with adjectives to describe the tiger’s appearance such as his long tail, pink nose and sharp claws. Then we used the same strategy to come up with adjectives to describe the tiger’s personality by looking at his actions, for example, greedy, friendly and caring. We used our creativity and observational skills to draw a picture of the tiger, looking at the illustrations in the story and focussing on the details. After this, we wrote all the adjectives we could think of around the picture.
