Last Friday, we held a special Forest School Taster Afternoon, giving parents and children starting Reception in September the chance to have a go at some of the activities we enjoy during our weekly Forest School sessions. We were very lucky with the weather and just missed the rain!
We started off on a nature walk, looking for signs of Spring using our checklist. We saw lots of daffodils on our way as well as flower buds and birds. We looked for insects on the ground and later found a worm in the mud kitchen.
We then gathered together for a story. We read ‘Stick Man’ and then the children had a chance to gather sticks to make their very own Stick Men. Some children even made a stick fox! The children also got muddy in the mud kitchen and made clay faces and hedgehogs.
Here are some of the things the children enjoyed the most:
“I loved making the stick men and eating the yummy biscuits” - Zari
“I loved playing in the mud kitchen and cooking some marshmallow fluff and chocolate mousse” - Zak
“I loved making a hedgehog. I used sticks to make the spikes” - Sidney
