Form 6 were recently visited by World War Two author, Mary Rosambeau. Read a report from pupil, Holly P:
On Tuesday 25th June, Mary Rosambeau, a self-published author, came in to tell us about her book, 'Secrets and Spies.' She was a child during WW2 and told us about her experience with the practices for D-Day. We learnt about the Norwegian fishermen who would deliver weapons to the English in Shetland, German spies that switched sides, and how to make a go cart, a toy that children at the time enjoyed making and riding on as her characters did.
She then told us about her book, 'Secrets and Spies,' which follows a ten-year-old boy called Rory Mackay living in North Scotland who wants to be a fighter pilot, and he befriends a boy called Paul. Together they try to investigate the suspicious things going on around them in their village. I immediately bought the book and asked Mary to sign it because I enjoyed the great description and suspense she had built at the start of the story. I also really like reading about the war as it is valuable history that we shouldn't forget.
