11:10pm (GMT +01:00): All the children are sleeping soundly and went down remarkably well around 9:15pm - unsurprising after such a full on and busy first day!
The journey to Folkstone was impressively smooth and we arrived in good time for a quick play on the swings before embarking on the Euro Tunnel at about midday. We met our guide Tajana on the other side of the Channel and were whisked off to La Boulangerie where a rather formidable man taught the children how to make croissants! They also learned how stone baked bread was made and enjoyed taking a freshly baked snack away with them.
A little free time and a run around on another playground was followed by a visit to the Military Cemetary in Etaples to learn about soldiers that had died in the Great War and WWII and then onto the centre at Hardelot, with time to unpack before dinner.
After an enjoyable meal and a bit of leisure time, the children all went off to their rooms to relax, ready for an early start and a busy day ahead tomorrow. The teachers are shattered too!
A few snaps of the day so far..
