Ms Habgood focussed all her assemblies with KS2/KS1 and Reception on Anti Bullying, the impact that it can have and communicating to the children that we are a ‘Telling School’ where it is important to tell someone if they are feeling bullied and if they see it happening to anyone else.
Over the course of the week all classes were busy considering different aspects of bullying and how to deal with it, which then culminated in a sharing assembly on Friday where the children had the opportunity to share what they’d been doing with their peers. It was evident from this that the children had taken a lot from the week and the discussions that they’d had with their class teachers.
In support of Anti-Bullying Week, we also had some ‘Norfolk House Against Bullying’ wristbands made, of which we sold many. These are still available in the office should anyone still want to buy one.
We would like to offer our thanks to FONH for arranging the cake sale where we raised £144 towards ‘Bullies Out’, which was our chosen charity for this event. FoNH have kindly offered to match the amount raised and donate a further £144.
The week was a great success with all children having a clear understanding of what bullying is, the impact thereof and how to stop it.
Mrs Gormley
A special thank you to Mrs Gormley for coordinating this event, writing the article and putting together the presentation from all the children’s work!
