Dear Parents,

We would like to kick off our first newsletter of 2017 with a warm welcome back to school, happy new year wishes and a big thank you for all your continued support and generosity, without which, we could not do half the things we do.

For this newsletter, we thought it would be a good idea to recap on what went on last term and what we can look forward to this term. We got the social calendar off to a good start with our welcome back drinks at the Clissold Arms. It was a lovely evening and a great chance to catch up with friends and teachers after a long summer off.

Vanessa Gray kindly held 2 uniform sales; one in the beginning of term at Muswell Avenue and one just before half term in Princes Avenue, where we also held an accompanying cake sale to raise money for our newly selected Charity – The Donald Woods Foundation.

In fact, we’ve had a great start to our fundraising efforts. The cake sale generated £170, the terrifying haunted house put together by year 6 at the Halloween Party raised a further £110 and raffle tickets sold at the parents Xmas Party raised another £1,300 – taking the grand total up to £1,580. We also raised £8,650 at the Christmas Party auction and are in discussion with the school on how best to use these funds for the benefit of our children. More updates to follow! Thank you so much again for your generosity.

Speaking of generosity, we had some amazing cakes and other edibles donated by parents for us to sell at the Halloween Party. The treats were enjoyed by parents and children alike and hopefully, Captain Fantastic, our super DJ helped expend some of that energy! Parents also donated treats for the cake sale, which again were much appreciated.

Most of last term was taken up by organising all things Christmas. Apart from the kids Christmas parties, we organised the sale of Christmas cards and other festive merchandise designed exclusively by your children. And of course, let’s not forget the parents and teachers Christmas Party, which was held on 25th November at the Old Dairy in Crouch End. Party goers enjoyed plenty of prosecco, a three-course meal with wine and a DJ that played on till 1am! It was a fun night and, predictably, a subsequent morning of sore heads.

But now that January and the exams are behind us, there is lots going on. For the children, there are the Easter Egg hunts and World Book Day, where we will fund some exciting workshops for the children along with prizes for imaginative costumes. And of course, for parents and staff we have the annual pub quiz – an event not to be missed! There will also be a uniform and cake sale held to coincide with Red Nose Day – so plenty to look forward to!
