We have been enjoying the sunshine and getting to know our new Form 5 classes. We have been most impressed by their positive attitudes and enthusiasm for learning. Our new core values have been a focus in this first week and the children have already demonstrated their capacity for caring and reflection as you can see in the accompanying pictures.
The children in Form 5 have also embarked on an exciting study of the author Michael Morpurgo and the novel ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom.’ Their first task was to present their prior knowledge of the author using creative methods such as posters, fact sheets, quizzes and PicCollages on the iPads. Moving on, we then focused on the protagonist, Michael and the children gleaned information from the text in regards to his character traits. With the aim of expanding the children’s repertoire of language, we have been analysing the word choices in the text and explaining the precise effect of them. Both classes have responded brilliantly and have shown excellent understanding. If they carry on in a similar manner, they are destined to achieve great things!
