WHAT A DAY. Best day of my teaching career so far, by a mile.

Seven excited boys, developed through a mixture of Power League after-school clubs with Mr Holt, and in-school football lessons on a Friday, along with 2 very proud teachers and a huge turnout from families and friends, made the school unbelievably proud yesterday at the Annual ISA Under-7s Football Tournament.

We have been working hard this term in Form 2 to develop a playing style and game plan of our own, following four simple rules:

1. Have fun and show respect.

2. Find space and use your voice.

3. Pass, using your ears and eyes.

4. Play as a team together in formation.

The attacking talents of Harry Canwell, Milo Thompson and Akash Dhana (Captain) were complimented perfectly by the passing abilities of Jacob Gerber (Vice Captain), and the defensive talents of Max Lipner, Aran Fevzi our fastidious goalkeeper, and Sidney Embleton, the NH Man of the Tournament (as chosen by Captain Akash).

Managing 5 wins out of 5 games in the group stage, a feat never achieved before by any NH team in any age group and/or sport, the team entered the elite ISA Cup tournament at the semi-final stage. Despite taking the lead through a Harry Canwell goal, the game ended a 1-1 draw and NH lost the consequent penalty shootout 2-1. Stood as a team, arms over shoulders, the boys were graceful in defeat as they shook hands with their opponents and wished them luck for the final.

However, in the 3rd place playoff, 2 inspired  goals from Captain Akash Dhana, coupled with excellent teamwork and resolute defending from all, meant that NH Form 2 Football Team achieved 3rd place in the cup and 3rd place in the tournament overall, out of 13 teams!

With a record for the day of 6 wins out of 7 games and 1 draw in which we lost on penalties, the boys did us incredibly proud! Scoring 10 goals and only conceding 3 (in 7 games!) in the process!

WHAT A DAY!!!!!!
