Hello! My name is Madina Howard and I am the maternity cover teacher for class 1B while Mrs. Bolton undertakes her maternity leave. I've received a wonderful welcome from my new colleagues, parents and children in my first week at Norfolk House School. The school community is clearly a dynamic and lively place and I feel very lucky to now be part of it.
I obtained my PGCE from the Institute of Education in London after embarking on a career change from working in administration at universities such as The University of Edinburgh and UCL. I haven't looked back after making the switch as the past three years have been incredibly stimulating and rewarding. My main teaching experience lies in the EYFS, Year 1 and Year 3 and I consider myself to be constantly developing my practice and knowledge as I teach, learn and reflect alongside the children in my class.
I was born in Dundee and lived in Fife before moving to Edinburgh to pursue an MA (Hons.) in Ancient and Medieval History. I graduated in 2009 and relocated to London in 2012 after my partner, Morten, was offered a job as an analyst. Outside of work my interests include classical studies, astronomy, Hapkido martial arts and skiing. I also enjoy a bit of tennis from time to time!
I am looking forward to getting to know the children and their families better at Norfolk House School whilst supporting Form 1's learning and progress as they continue to flourish academically and socially. Thank you to all the staff, parents and children who have made me feel so welcome.
