Pre-Prep Team Blog

The Pre-Prep team have been working together on a range of areas this term in order to improve teaching and learning for our children.
We have looked closely at our school ‘Effective Lessons’ poster and worked hard to improve the areas that we focus on, such as incorporating Learning objectives and success criteria into our lessons. This enables children to be fully aware of what they are trying to achieve and clearly sets out the areas that they need to include in order to be successful.
We have adapted our weekly planning grids to ensure that these areas are included and are accessible and challenging for the children.
The teachers are also carrying out ‘Learning Walks.’ This is where we go into each other’s lessons and have an opportunity to see each other at work, looking for effective teaching and learning and the positives that we can share with each other. As a result of this, teachers have been asked to share some of their teaching with each other in our fortnightly department meetings. We have had the opportunity to take part in a phonics session where all staff became robots! We will also be looking forward to sharing some history teaching next term.
The Pre-Prep staff are working hard to ensure that the children are both learning and enjoying their time with us and are making a good level of progress.
