Pre-Prep have been studying texts with patterned language. To show what they had learnt, some children were asked to make an alternative ending for the Gingerbread Man, where he escapes his fate of being eaten.

An alternative ending for The Gingerbread Man

By Gracie The sly fox tossed the frightened Gingerbread Man into the air. The Gingerbread Man landed on dry land. ‘Hey!’ shouted the Gingerbread Man, I am lucky I didn’t land in the river. The Gingerbread Man soon made many friends and was very happy.

By Kiran The clever old fox threw the Gingerbread Man up into the air, then his friend Mr. Fly caught him with his long, long tongue and took him to a safe dry land. The Gingerbread Man lived happily ever after.

By Max Greenwood The sly old fox tossed the gingerbread Man up into the air and tried to eat him but the Gingerbread Man was a genius and he jumped onto a shiny twig and paddled away to some green land. When he got there he saw an apple tree. He was hungry so he ate some. Then he made a bed and lived happily ever after.
